'Ekaantha Seetha...a lonely furrow' 2006
 
CCA's production, Ekaantha Seetha is a Bharatanatyam

dance drama celebrating women of extraordinary courage and character, of gumption and grace: Sita of Hindu theology, Rani Lakshmi Bai of Indian Freedom movement, Aparajitha of today's India. The underlying theme says it all: We reap the harvests of the loosened fields of lonely furrows ploughed by such women.

The troupe consisted of 16 acclaimed dancers from Kalakshetra, Bharata Kalanjali and other eminent schools in Chennai led by Guru Dhananjayans


 
     
  The production's dance styles and music ranged from the highly classical to folk, from evocative ragams to martial rhythms, from foreign adversaries to village bullies and from uplifting moments to rustic humor.

In line with its protagonists’ era, the languages used in the production were Valmiki's Sanskrit, the Hindi of Tulsidas and Subhadhra Chauhan and India's most recent language, English.
